Lemon Myrtle (Australia)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Lemon Myrtle Plant is a flowering tree that can reach almost 70 feet high. The leaves are a glossy green while the flowers are creamy white and produced in clusters at the end of the branches. SOURCE  The Lemon Myrtle Plant is native to sub-tropical  Australia. Lemon Myrtle grows around regions very near to Queensland, Australia.ORIGIN The Lemon Myrtle Plant is most well known for being a very good germ killer and was originally used for that purpose. It is considered as good a germ killer as the more familiar Tea Tree Essential Oil. PRINCIPAL CONSTITUENTS The main constituent of the Lemon Myrtle plant is Citral with 91.3% of its chemical structure is made up of it. HISTORY   Lemon Myrtle was given its Latin, Botanical name in 1853 with part of its name being named after the English Botanist, James Backhouse.
