BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Calendula Plant typically is found to be growing about 1 to 2 feet tall and has a magnificently bright set of petals enveloping the top of the flower which is where the Essential Oil is derived from. SOURCE The Calendula Flower is found in South Africa, Southwest Asia and Western Europe as well as in the Mediterranean area.ORIGIN Traditionally, the Calendula Plant has been used for its many purposes such as its culinary and medical purposes. The petals are typically put into salads for their beauty and flavor. The petals of Calendula Flowers can be crushed to make a wonderful yellow dye. PRINCIPAL CONSTITUENTS The flowers of Calendula officinalis contain flavonol glycosides, triterpene oligoglycosides, oleanane-type triterpene glycosides, saponins and a sesquiterpene glucoside. HISTORY Romans and Greeks used the Calendula Plant in many of their rituals and ceremonies and wore crowns made from the leaves of the flower. Calendula gained the nickname "Mary's Gold" because of its use in some Catholic Ceremonies.
