BOTANICAL PORTRAIT Basil typically grows as a light green, silky leaved plant measuring at an estimation of 30 and 130 cm in height, and 1 to 6 cm broad. The flowers of the Basil Plant are white and are arranged in a terminal spike. SOURCEBasil grows wild all over Mediterranean Europe, especially in Italy and multiple other parts of Europe. However, Basil is typically produced by Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil and Indonesia. Basil Plants are native to India in areas like Tulsi.ORIGINBasil originally came from India, it was used for both culinary and medicinal purposes but it was thoroughly familiar to Theophrastus and Dioscorides; philosophers of the Ancient Greek time.PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTSThe strong clove scent of sweet Basil is derived from eugenol.
