BOTANICAL PORTRAIT Sandalwood from Indonesia can grow up to 10 meters tall at its peak with slender branches and beautiful pink-purple flowers. The roots of the Sandalwood Tree often bury into the other trees as it grows. The reason Sandalwood Essential Oil is so valuable is because the tree takes almost 60 years to mature before it can be harvested for its oil. SOURCE As its name suggests, Indonesian Sandalwood is only grown in Indonesia because of its ideal growing conditions. However, there is a shortage of the Sandalwood Tree around the world, so we only buy our oil from plantations that aim to reforest this magnificent tree.ORIGIN The Sandalwood Indonesia was originally used as a traditional medicine by the Chinese culture to help treat urinary infections, digestive complaints, and dry and persistent coughs. PRINCIPLE  CONSTITUENTS Indonesian Sandalwood Essential Oil is made up of chemicals such as Santalol, Santly acetate and Santalene. These chemicals make up more than 90% of the Essential Oil. HISTORY Sandalwood has become tightly woven into the history of India because it is one of the most valuable trees in the world. It has been esteemed by religions around the world for its spiritually enriching aroma for almost 5,000 years.

SKIN CARE The Indonesian Sandalwood is noted for its skin care use. Indonesian Sandalwood can help with a variety of issues such as fighting fungal infections like athlete's foot, healing and aiding sunburned and dry skin, fighting bacterial infection in the skin and soothing the pain caused by psoriasis and arthritis. RESPIRATORY SYSTEM Because of its strong, pathogen-fighting properties, Indonesian Sandalwood is very useful when used as aromatherapy to aid the body in fighting upper respiratory infections that cause difficulty breathing.
