Rosewood (Brazil)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT A recent addition to the endangered species list, the Rosewood Tree is an evergreen tree that grows very tall, almost 60 feet tall. Rosewood bears yellow flowers near the top of the tree and has a reddish color to the bark and heartwood. SOURCE Controlled by the Government of Brazil, Rosewood is a tree that is almost exclusively produced in the Amazonian region. The Rosewood Tree itself is used mostly for timber. Brazil and Peru are the main producers of the Rosewood Essential Oil.ORIGIN The Rosewood Essential Oil is a very recent addition to the essential oils; Rosewood was usually used in building, carving, or French cabinet-making. PRINCIPLE  CONSTITUENTS Mostly, the Rosewood Essential Oil is composed of Linalool with 87% of its chemical makeup bearing this structure. HISTORY A study in 1995 showed that the Rosewood Essential Oil had the highest inhibition rate against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

SKIN CARE Mostly, the wonderfully sweet smelling Rosewood Essential Oil can be used as a skin care product as it treats a range of ailments such as acne dermatitis, scars, wounds, wrinkles, and maintaining general skin health.
