 BOTANICAL PORTRAIT A member of the Parsley Family, the Dill Plant can reach a height of up to 3 feet high and in the summertime, the Dill plant can sprout yellow flowers and bears flat small seeds from which the oil is extracted. SOURCE Native to India and Southwestern Asia, Dill Plants were naturalized in Europe near the Mediterranean.ORIGIN The Anglo-Saxons used the Dill Plant medicinally most commonly as a carminative (for the prevention of gas in the body). Modern-day dill pickles are seen as appetite-suppressing. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Dill is 26.1% Carvone and 35.5% Limonene with other chemicals like eugenol and pine appearing throughout the chemical make-up. HISTORY Deriving its name from the Nordic Dilla meaning to lull, King Charlemagne kept the Dill Plant close at hand when guests needed digestive aid.
