BOTANICAL PORTRAIT A climbing woody vine, the Pepper Plant uses trees or other supports to help it grow to a height of almost 20 feet but is usually kept to a height of about 12 feet for commercial purposes. The Pepper Plant has a lifespan of about 20 years. SOURCE The Pepper Plant is native to Southwest India and is cultivated primarily in tropical countries around the world. Major producers of the Black Pepper Essential Oil are India, Malaysia, China and Madagascar.ORIGIN In Ancient Chinese medicine, the Pepper Plant was used extensively to help treat malaria dysentery, stomach ache, diarrhea, indigestion and other digestive tract problems.
