Cedarwood Himalayan (India)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT  The Himalayan Cedarwood Tree is very tall reaching almost 50m tall and occasionally can even grow more. It is of the evergreen class and is a lovely green color on the foliage. SOURCE Himalayan Cedarwood grows extensively on the slopes of the Himalayas, particularly in Northern India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.ORIGIN In Ancient Egypt, Cedarwood was used as an embalming tool to preserve human remains in the tombs and coffins of kings and pharaohs. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Himalayan Cedarwood is composed of 30.2% α-Termineol, 24.4% Linalool, 17% Limonene, 14.56% Anethole, 2.14% Eugenol and many others. HISTORY Ancient Egyptians were the first to us Cedarwood oil, primarily for embalming purposes but in some cases, it was used for cosmetics and perfume because of its pleasing smell. In fact, Solomon’s temple was built with Cedarwood to help preserve what is in it. Today, it can still be used for a number of things including insect repellent.

SKIN CARE The Himalayan Cedarwood Essential Oil has natural astringent and anti-putrescent properties that make it wonderful for treating the skin. Cedarwood can regulate the amount of sebum that is produced in the pores to help prevent clogging thus preventing and removing acne from the skin and face NERVOUS SYSTEM Himalayan Cedarwood is thought to have natural sedative and stimulant properties to stimulate the body while sedating the mind leading to a calm and collected soul. Cedarwood can be used during a massage to ease specific muscular aches and pains. IMMUNE SYSTEMCedarwood is thought to have antiseptic properties as well as fungicidal properties to help combat some diseases. Cedarwood can help aid the body’s immune system to fight off the common cold and the flu because of its stimulating effect on the white blood cells in the body.
