BOTANICAL PORTRAIT A small tree, about 4.5m tall, The Bergamot Tree bears smooth oval leaves and small round fruit. The fruit ripens from green to yellow and is the source of the Essential Oil. Some say it is much like an orange in appearance. SOURCE The Bergamot Tree is originally native to tropical Asia, it is now grown in tropical areas around Europe and Asia, such as Calabria and Southern Italy. Bergamot is commercially grown extensively on the Ivory Coast. ORIGIN Bergamot Essential Oil has been used in traditional Italian folk medicine to primarily treat fevers (mostly that were caused by malaria) and worms. Bergamot oil now is seen to have numerous therapeutic benefits. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS The Chemical constituents in the Bergamot Essential Oil are 100% natural and consist of about 38-39% Limonene, 27% Linoleyl, and 10-15% Linalool. HISTORY Bergamot was named after the city where they first sold the oil medicinally: Bergamo. Since then, Bergamot has travelled all throughout Asia and Europe and, now, all around the world sharing its benefits both physically and mentally.
SKIN CARE Many skin ailments can be remedied by Bergamot such as acne, boils, skin infections, wounds, insect bites and oily skin. Bergamot can be used as an effective insect repellent as well.
