Lavandin Grosso (France)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Lavandin Grosso plant is a hybrid of two different kinds of Lavender to create a more specified form of Lavender. Lavandin Flowers, for example, are smaller with a grey-blue color and have a much stronger smell than true Lavender. SOURCE Lavandin Grosso can be grown where ever the Lavender Officinalis Plant can grow. These areas include France, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria among other countries around the world.ORIGIN Lavandin Grosso was created to be a much more aromatic form of Lavender. This was because they wanted a stronger scent during the candle making process for their products. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Linalool and Linalyl acetate are the two most prominent chemical constituents in the Lavandin Grosso Essential Oil at 32.75% and 31% respectively. HISTORY In the 18th and 19th centuries, botanists were attempting to create a much more aromatic form of Lavender by cross-breeding species. By doing so, the Lavandin Grosso Plant was made.
