Lime (Italy)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Lime Tree is very similar to the Lemon Tree but grows a smaller, more bitter fruit than the lemon tree. The Lime Fruit has a green peel from which the Essential Oil is distilled and a green fleshy interior. SOURCE The fruit of the Lime Tree is believed to have been native to India or Malaysia. The trees were then grown on a large scale in Iraq or Persia which is where they began to gain popularity.ORIGIN The fruit and essential oil of the Lime is typically used as a substitute for lemons because of their very similar properties. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS Lime contains less Limonene than lemons; 68.9% in the Lime Oil compared to 80% in the Lemon Essential Oil. HISTORY Limes were used in conjunction with lemons by sailors who spend long periods at sea to prevent scurvy. Limes were prefered over Lemons as they had a longer lifespan and contained just as much Vitamin C Vitamin C content.

SKIN CARE The wonderfully aromatic Lime Essential Oil can help with acne, anemia, brittle nails, boils, cuts, greasy skin, fighting the outward signs of herpes, insect bites, mouth ulcers, spots and varicose veins. RESPIRATORY SYSTEM The Lime Essential Oil has properties in its chemical makeup which can help open the airways. This makes it great to use when you have been struck with the symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, throat infections and catarrh. IMMUNE SYSTEMBecause of its high Vitamin C content, the Lime Essential Oil can be used as an effective agent in fighting the flu, colds, fevers, and some infections to help you get healthy quicker. CIRCULATION, MUSCLES AND JOINTSThe Lime essential oil can help with the pain of arthritis, cellulitis, lower blood pressure, preventing nosebleeds and with poor circulation in the body creating a healthier circulatory system.
