Geranium Egyptian (Egypt)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT Growing almost 3 feet high, Geranium is a hairy perennial shrub with pointed leaves that have sharp serrated edges while bearing pinkish-white flowers. SOURCE The Egyptian Geranium is cultivated in Egypt almost exclusively as it has a different kind of chemical formula and slightly different aroma to it.ORIGIN In earlier eras, the Geranium plant was burned as incense and was used to keep evil spirits away by planting them around houses. PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS The most common constituents in Geranium are Citronellol at 25% and Geraniol at 15%. HISTORY 200 species of Geranium were grown in many parts of Africa before they were eventually introduced to Europe in the 17th Century. Since then, Geranium has become a very popular aroma and incense to be used with many different people.
