Sandalwood Amyris (Haiti)

BOTANICAL PORTRAIT Sandalwood Amyris is distilled from the oil of the leaves and twigs of the Amyris Balsamifera Tree. The leaves are dark green in color and are covered with a waxy residue which gives it a sort of sheen. SOURCEThe wonderfully aromatic Sandalwood Tree is traditionally found on the island of Haiti as well as the surrounding areas such as Cuba, Jamaica and Central and South America because of the favorable tropical climate.ORIGINThe Sandalwood was especially used in fires before it was used as an Essential Oil. This is because the high oil content of the of the Sandalwood Tree made it burn very easily like candles or torches. PRINCIPAL CONSTITUENTSThe Sandalwood Amyris Essential Oil is made up of almost all Santanol in its chemical makeup at about 91%. HISTORY In 1886, Sandalwood Amyris's scientific name was changed because it was not an actual derivation of Sandalwood.
