BOTANICAL PORTRAIT The Elemi Tree closely resembles the tree that the Frankincense Essential Oil is derived from. Elemi Trees have very large Ovular Leaves with tall erect stems that stretch almost 15 feet tall.SOURCE Elemi is native to and cultivated in the Philippine Islands and the Moluccas and the distillation is performed on the plantation Elemi is harvested from.ORIGIN The earliest recorded use of Elemi was when the Ancient Egyptians used in their embalming process when they were mummifying Kings and Pharaohs. The name Elemi comes from the Arabic phrase for "As Above, So Below".PRINCIPLE CONSTITUENTS The main constituent that can be found in the Elemi Essential Oil is Limonene which makes up almost 60% of the chemical makeup. HISTORY The resin of the Elemi Tree was used in Europe and near the Middle East for ointments and salves and in more recent times, as a substitute for Frankincense because of its very similar properties.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM Elemi has a way of clearing and opening the airways which is very useful when one is experiencing issues such as bronchitis or nonproductive coughing.
